Tell Me Something Tuesday #10
|February 27, 2012||Posted by Cambria under Tell me something Tuesday|
Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! It’s as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!
Tell Me Something:
If you could travel into any book to the setting and meet the characters which book would it be and why?
I keep asking myself WHY? Why did you ask this question?! This is the hardest question for me so far during this meme, so I hope you all appreciate the suffering I am doing for you all. He he he he.
It’s so hard because I have read hundreds of books, and loved a ton of them. And I could probably name a hundred books that I would love to literally walk into their pages but I can’t do that here because we would all gauge our eyes out with my list. LOL.
And do you know why else it’s really hard (this is the real reason, peeps)….wait for it…
My answer is totally lame.
Ha ha ha.
Okay, so it’s not lame but I am afraid that you will all roll your eyes and laugh at me when I give my answer… remember it is NOT polite to laugh at your hostess…
So, let’s let the eye rolling commence shall we? 😉
I wanted to come up with something clever, something profound even but the book that I truly kept coming back to is a book that I have talked about many times before (this is why I think you will think its lame bc I always pick this book for something, lol)but it is my true and honest pick.
Unearthly, by Cynthia Hand.
I think the reason that I loved this book so much was because of the setting. It captivated me so completely and sometimes I felt like I was there in the pages. The way the characters (mostly Tuck and Clara) would go fishing in a peaceful lake, hike in a scenic trail, pick blackberries in the wilderness and ski down snow capped mountains… well, it left me with a longing.
And let me tell ya, I ain’t all that athletic so all these outdoor activities I probably would whine while doing. (except the blackberry picking and the boating). I mean when I went skiing they had to coerce me onto the ski lift and then I only went on the bunny trails. LOL!!
When I think of this book I can just picture the beauty and the peacefulness of the place. And Clara’s house, a cabin that sits on a spaceous piece of land with trees all around…. *sigh*
Here is how I picture the setting:
And the characters. I would like to spend the afternoon with these people. Clara is very real, she is a believable character and I like that. She would be a good girl to sit around and gossip with, to drink hot cocoa and laugh with. Even Jeffery would be fun to hang around, I bet he would be entertaining and fun. And Tucker… well he is a bucket full of awesome. I would go fishing with him any day and not whine AT ALL!!
And now to continue my lameness….. I want to share another book that I kept coming back to. This is where the eye rolling comes in bc I think a lot of people are tired of hearing about his series. But it would be: Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer.
I have always been a gloomy day kind of girl. I love the rain, I love overcast gray days when the wind whips through the trees and you can stand at a window and watch the weather swirl around. I like the cold. I like to be in a sweatshirt and drink coffee and tuck an blanket around me to read and you just can’t do that in 80 degree sunny weather.
So, Forks would be a place that I would love. And the forests, the green and the oceans just beautiful. And the scenery and settings in the movies…. Gorgeous. Now, some of the acting leaves a little to be desired but that setting is absolutely breathtaking….
See? I would climb into those pictures and just sit beneath those trees with a book (and a Starbucks… those people out there MUST be coffee drinkers, lol) and I would be in heaven.
So, that is my official answer for this week’s TMST. It may not be the most original but it is real. 😉 And I have no doubt that all of your answers are going to blow me away and make me smack my head and say “Why didn’t I think of that?!”
Before I close I want to tell you next week’s question so you can be sure to come back and join in next week!! The question is inspired by the opening of The Hunger Games over last weekend:
Do you usually like the book better than the movie or the movie better than the book? What is your favorite book to movie adaptation you have ever seen?
And that is this week’s Tell Me Something Tuesday!
