My Blog Tag questions are provided to me by Maghon @ Mags luv ya
My Questions and answers:
1. What’s your favorite quote from a book-or just a saying of some sort?
I heard this saying a while ago and it has stuck with me: “Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you.” I think it’s a good reminder that sometimes life is what you make it and how you react to the challenges you face.
2. Who’s your favorite best friend of a character in a book and why-basically the support group LOL?
You know this was the hardest question for me because I like most of the “side kicks” as I call them in books but a lot of them we don’t really get to know. A few came to mind when I was thinking about the answer but they all seemed like every other answer I am giving and were from the same books I talk about all the time. So I picked someone different and maybe a little unexpected. Who is it you ask?
John Smith’s BFF in I am Number Four, Sam. I chose Sam because he was a little odd – obsessed with alien’s, paranoid and sure that the aliens were going to get him. LOL. It was amusing and different to read because he seemed to have his own life outside of just supporting his BFF. His dad left and didn’t come back (a strange alien abduction you ask??? Could be!), he lives with his mom who works a lot and he has tons of theories. He also is a very good friend to John. He really comes through when John needs help and then later he keeps the secrets and fights alongside his friend even when he thinks it might get him killed. So to me, he is an awesome (if not weird, lol) side kick and I liked reading about him. 😉
3. What’s the most important to you, the plot, the characters, or the writing style?
This is a hard question because to me all those things go together. If one is off usually the rest of the book is thrown off as well. The plot is really important because it’s what keeps the story line flowing and interesting, it keeps the characters moving and it basically sets the tone for the story. If the plot doesn’t make sense or falls flat then usually my feelings about the book are not as good as they could be. The characters are important because they are who the reader experiences the story through, we kind of “feel” what they feel and if they aren’t written well the readers experience isn’t as full. Writing style is something every author has whether they know it or not and whether the reader knows it or not. This is basically the entire tone and flow of the book; the descriptions, the phrases, the “feel” of the book. Sometimes I have read a book where the wording isn’t quite flowing for me and it disrupts the reading flow. So yeah, I can’t choose which one. They are all equally important to me. LOL.
4. Since we are all ladies… who do you prefer, the good guy or the bad boy?
The bad boy. (can you hear the engine revving?? Lol) Give me a guy in leather with a bad attitude and hair that looks like he never bothers to comb it and OMG…. Get me a drool rag. I also tend to like to read about arrogant, over bearing men who think they can boss the ladies around. Lol. Charming right? He he he. But I think that a guy like that has to be matched up with a strong female lead that won’t take being bossed around. But really what makes a bad boy good is that essentially he is a good guy deep inside you just have to dig around to get to that guy… it’s the digging that makes things interesting. Lol. Oh, and I like a bad boy that can do bad things but for a good reason…. Good example: Damon of the Vampire Diaries. He kills quite a few people but I still swoon for him. 😉
5. What is it that makes you want to blog about books?
I love books! I love talking to other people about books and hearing what they think. I think what’s really cool is that two people can read the same book and walk away with different feelings and thoughts. I like hearing how someone else interpreted the same thing I read, it makes me look at the book in a whole new light.
6. Since I can never chose, name your top 5 (or whatever number you want) authors?
Gena Showalter – she is very talented and I respect her a lot. Her YA series is awesome.
Andrea Cremer – Love the Nightshade trilogy and I like that she ended her series the way she thought it was meant to be ended even if it might not be the most popular way to go.
R.L. Stein – I still remember reading the Goosebumps books as a kid and the Fear Street books. This is what started my love of reading in fantasy and paranormal. This guy is a classic and he knows his stuff for sure.
Jane Austen – Really, do I have to explain. The very fact I am naming her after all this time speaks volumes.
7. Also, since I can never chose, what’s your top 5 (or whatever number) series (or stand alone books)?
Stand Alone: I read this book years and years ago and I still think about it sometimes. I loved it. It was when I was reading adult books, romance and loved books about cops. This book totally had me guessing til the end and smiling too. I loved it. I still do.
Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Perfect-Linda-Howard/dp/0671027573/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1329348485&sr=1-1
Series: Intertwined Series by Jenna Showalter
Need Series by Carrie Jones
Twilight by Stephanie Myer
Nightshade by Angela Cremer
I really loved the Hunger Games but haven’t read the last two yet.
8. I am also stealing from Karla, but who are your top 5 book boyfriends & what series are the from ( so I can also stalk them too LOL )?
Nick from the Need Series
Tucker from Unearthly
Riley from the Intertwined series
Damon from Vampire Diaries
Sam from Masquerade – I had to add him cause I spend a lot of time with him and I am very attached. LOL.
9. If there was one book, that you could read over and over again, what is it?
You know I don’t usually read the same book more than once because there are so many out there that I want to read that I never have time to re-read!!
10. Tell me something you want me to know about you (try for it not to be about books)…
How about some friendly advice?? Always look before you sit. This is very important because you just never know when you might stumble into the bathroom in the middle of the night and sit down and then BAM! There’s a toilet snake biting you in the butt! Can you imagine?? EW Gross. I always always look before I sit.
Also, as a hobby I bake and decorate cakes for friends and family. Here is one of the cakes I have made:
