The Death Escorts series is my series about reapers. The complete series will be four books. Right now the first two are available: Recalled and Charmed.  The second two should be out sometime in 2015.

What first piqued your interest in writing about reapers?

If I am to be 100% honest then I would have to say, I have no idea. I never really set out to write about reapers. lol. I kind of just fell into it. I know, that makes NO sense. Welcome to my brain. ha ha. Years ago (like before I wrote my first series – the Heven & Hell series) I wrote the first chapter of Recalled. It wasn’t titled at the time and back then I thought it was going to be about angels. Anyway, I got busy with Heven and Hell and this book got pushed to the side. Then I started thinking about a book where the main guy was sort of hard to love. But yet we loved him anyway. I wanted a guy who was sort of un-typical. A guy very rough around the edges, but some how redeemable. And then, for some very disturbing reason I kept thinking about a man who kept bodies in his closet. A man who changed them like he changed a sweater. What kind of man kept bodies in a closet? Who? A grim reaper that’s who.

But not just any grim reaper. A reaper who basically outsourced his killing to others… to his death escorts.

Dex was born (you know my redeemable guy) and so was Piper. I realized with startling clarity the book that was supposed to be about angels was in fact about a reaper and the escorts who killed for him.

What makes your reapers different?

My reapers are different because in my series there is only ONE true Grim Reaper. One touch – even if accidental – kills you. He has the ability to literally pull your human essence (your soul) out of your body and put it into another one (hence the collection of bodies in his closet). Not only that but he’s filthy rich and throughout the years he’s collected a staff of Escorts – of hired killers – who do his dirty work.

I mean after all, how can ONE man reap that many souls alone.

And so the Death Escorts are not necessarily reapers, but they do have paranormal abilities. They are technically dead, but given life through their deal with the reaper.

Are your reapers Heroes or Villains?

Well… in some ways I think they are both. It depends on who on the Reaper’s staff you are dealing with. Some of them are reluctant heroes. Some don’t even realize they are heroes. Some are just plain assholes. lol.

But someone else vows to get in his way. Someone with a big mouth, a sugar habit, and blond hair. Someone who makes his heart start beating again. 
And so Charming is left holding more than one person’s fate in the palm of his hand. He thought the choice would be easy, that there really wasn’t a question at all.
