Tell Me Something Tuesday
|August 20, 2012||Posted by Cambria under Tell me something Tuesday|
Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! It’s as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!
Tell Me Something:
Were you bullied in school? How do you think bullying has charged over the years – do you think it’s worse now than it was a few years ago?
I am asking this tough and thought provoking question this week because my blogging buddy Heidi over at Rainy Day Ramblings because she is doing a special bullying theme this week so be sure to stop by and check it out: http://www.rainydayramblings.typepad.com
I also have an Indie author friend, Crystal Cattabriga who has a book coming out about bullying. It’s called Torn Souls and is being released on October 12, 2012
You know, I’m going to be honest here, this isn’t my fav subject just because its a hard one, it’s sad and I hate to think about other kids being mean to other kids. Actually I don’t like to think about adults being mean to each other either, LOL! Plus, since I have kids in school I don’t like to think about someone bullying them. I definitely think that its important to teach kids how to treat one another and that bullying is not okay. I think its important we also tell kids to speak up when something like bullying is happening to them.
When I was young I wasn’t really bullied. I had a hard couple of years (in elementary school) but then when it was time to go to middle school my neighborhood was redistricted and I went to a new school where I made a lot of friends and didn’t seem to have problems with being made fun of. So thankfully, I got lucky. I wasn’t really bullied though, I just didn’t have a lot of friends and there were a few “mean girls” who like to make mean comments to me.
I do think that bullying has changed over the years because of technology. I think its become easier to be a bully – to say mean things without a face – it’s easier to be mean when you don’t have to do it to someone’s face. I also think that there are shows on TV, violent video games and movies that seem to glorify being mean to other people. Sometimes it almost seems like society is telling people that they don’t have to treat others with respect… but that’s just my opinion (maybe I sound like an old lady, LOL!)
I’m pretty interested to hear your thoughts on bullying and also your experiences, so I’m going to keep this short and sweet so I can let you tell me something!
Before you go grab next week’s question:
Is your TBR pile out of control? How do you plan to reign it in?
