Synopsis (courtesty of http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/american-reunion/production-details.html )

It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults to reminisce about — and get inspired by — the hormonal teens they once were.

My Review (courtesy of me!)

American Reunion is basically a revisit – another movie – in the American Pie movies from several years ago. In these movies a group of teenagers graduate high school in the year 1999. It was the year I graduated high school as well, so I guess you could say that this movie and these actors are “my age”. LOL.

When the American Pie movies came out years ago I watched them and really liked them. Actually, American Pie has some good memories for me… back when my (now) husband and I were dating we moved in together. He had been living in NC and I was living in MD (still at home with my mom, lol) and he got orders (he’s in the military) to move to SC. So we packed a U-haul (a moving truck) and hauled what little belongings we had and went to SC. We didn’t have a place to live. We figured we would find one.

LOL. Frankly, that gives me hives now. But that’s what we did. We ended up buying a house (a cute one too!) and we moved in. We barely had any furniture – actually all we had was my bedroom furniture and a dining room table – lol.

We had this little tiny TV that was in my bedroom as a teenager and we sat in on the floor in the living room and for the first couple weeks we lived there we sat on the floor on blankets and would watch TV on the tiny screen. We didn’t have cable so we would watch movies.

Yup, you guessed it. American Pie was on at my house like 24/7. LOL. And what’s even more dated? It was a VHS tape we played through a VCR. LMAO!!!

But you know? We had fun. So when American Reunion came out it was like a blast from the past and I was excited to watch it.

I always thought the American Pie movies were funny – if sometimes cheesy. But hey, it was basically about a bunch of guys who wanted one thing – sex. The things those kids got themselves into seemed hardly believable but it was funny. Lol.

I was actually kind of shocked when American Reunion came out because it has been so many years since the first movies came out (10 years?) and when I saw the previews I noted that all the actors were coming back. I thought that was cool because a lot of the movies that do another sequel years later have one or two of the same people but mainly different actors. The entire cast came back for this movie (except Jim’s mom) and I thought that was really cool.

It was nest to see them “all grown up” and see the changes in how they all looked. A lot of them looked the same just older. Jason Biggs (who plays Jim) is as funny and ridiculous as ever and his (now) wife Michelle is the same as well. I liked seeing how all the characters ended up as “grown-ups” – what kind of jobs they got and if they ended up married or anything. Quite a few of them were still single which I thought was interesting.

Stifler was as hilarious as always. He was always the most outrageous one of the bunch and he still is. I actually enjoyed his character the most in this movie. He had a little character growth and you got to see a little different side to him – yet he was still the same old Stifler.

Plot wise I think the movie was a little silly. Maybe it’s because I’m older and I’m not watching the movies on a tiny television screen whithout any furniture around to sit on but I found myself rolling my eyes a lot and also getting annoyed with Jim for a few of the situations he found himself in (example: driving home a drunk 18 year old girl – alone).

There really wasn’t much plot to the movie but I guess there really didn’t need to be. Each character was going through their own kind of “struggle” and at the same time they were all together for their class reunion and catching up with long ago friends.

Even though it was ridiculous at times I still enjoyed the movie. It was entertaining for sure and there were quite a few moments that I laughed out loud.

I would say if you like movies that are kind of ridiculous, enjoy watching men make fools out of themselves and remember this movie from the past then you probably will enjoy it. It was good to see all the actors together again for another adventure and it was a fun way to unwind after a long day.

Oh, and for anyone wondering… this latest American Pie movie I did enjoy in my living room with my (now) husband. There were a few differences though… being that now we have a bigger TV, we have a couch to sit on and we are living in a different house. It was still fun.

So there you have it. My opinion.

So have you seen the American Pie movies? Do you like them?
