Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! It’s as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!

 Tell Me Something:

What is your favorite thing to eat? What about to make? (Include a recipe if you can!)

My answer:

This is an easy and a hard answer. Easy because I can rattle off a list of my favorite (and almost daily) things I eat. But it’s hard because I go through fazes, eating something for weeks then getting sick of it and switching to something else. LOL. Then there are the naughty foods. You know what I mean, the foods you want to eat all the time but don’t let yourself because just looking at them makes you gain five pounds (that isn’t just me is it??).  So how about I list more than one of my favorite eats, but I’ll keep it brief AND I will divide it into two categories. “The Safe” zone and the “Oh No She Didn’t!” Zone.

The Safe Zone

These are the foods I really love and I eat them all the time. I consider them “safe” because I think that they won’t cost me a jean size and I think they are pretty healthy.

Oatmeal.  – Yummy! I like the instant Quaker oats with some brown sugar sprinkled on top and cinnamon. I use almond milk so a splash of that is good too. Course lately, I’ve been being lazy and I have been buying the instant kind in the packets. I buy the maple brown sugar flavor that is High Fiber. I add some cinnamon pecans on top and a splash of almond milk. I eat this almost daily for breakfast and when I need a super quick dinner I eat it then too. LOL.

Raspberries. – My favorite fruit. I don’t eat them daily because they go bad fast so I only buy a pint or two at a time and wat them in like 2 days. LOL.

Coffee. – Yeah this isn’t a “food” but I usually would choose this over food. Especially if its Starbucks. I always get a skinny caramel latte.

Natural Fruit snacks – Yeah, this is a kid food but they are so good. And they are little tiny chewy bites. they are like candy but only have 60 calories a pack and have vitamons in them. I ate two packs a little bit ago. LOL.

Luna Protein Bars – My favorite is the Lemon flavor. Very tasty and easy to throw in my purse.

The “Oh No She Didn’t!” Zone

This is the zone where all my really favorite foods are but they are those foods that when I eat or see someone eating I think to myself “Oh No She Didn’t!” (Sometimes I snap my fingers at myself). These foods I try to stay away from because they are unhealthy and I like to fit in my jeans. 🙂 But sometimes a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

The donut. this is the worst offender in my life. I want these all the time. i would eat one every single day (and lick my fingers when I was done) if I could live with the “Oh No She Didn’t” guilt in my head. My two most fav donuts are: Coffee Rolls and Apple Fritters. Yup, the worst of the worst. LOL.

I would break up with you donut but you are beautifully scrumptous.  ( I eat donuts maybe 2 x a year….)

Cereal. Okay, this isn’t a terribly bad food because I actually like the healthy kind but cereal is like a Pringle for me. I can’t wat just one. As in one bowl….. I eat it and eat it and eat it. I eat it dry by the handfull, by the bowlful until the whole box is gone in like 2 days. “Oh No She Didn’t”  ————————> Oh, yes. I did. My favorite cereals are Frosty Mini Wheats, Kashi Go Lean, and Honey Nut Cheerios.

I always have cereal in the house because I have kids. I try not to buy the kind I really like so I am less tempted to eat it. BUt I won’t lie, on a bad day I reach for the cereal. LOL.

Candy. Yup, pure sugar. My favs are Sour Patch Kids, Twizzlers, Taffy, and anything sour. I also like gum balls, jawbreakers and blow pops.

Anything with syrup. Yeah, more sugar. More carbs. French Toast, waffles, pancakes. Give me some of that.

So those are my favorite foods! I can’t wait to hear yours! Below I am going to share a recipe for a food I LOVE to make as well as eat. I hope you enjoy it too!!!

My Recipe to Share

So, I make this recipe a lot. I am a HUGE fan of pumpkin and I use this recipe to make pumpkin bread. To make this into pumpkin bread I take out the banana’s and sub in about 1/2 cup or so of pure pumpkin (not the kind with the sugar in it already) and I also add in about 1/2 Tablespoon of baking powder and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon (I like cinnamon) and 1 teaspoon of ground ginger and allspice. It makes me think of fall and it is sooo good with some butter on top and some coffee.  BUT if you prefer banana bread then this is a great recipe. I have made it as is and its the best banana bread I have ever had.

Banana Bread Recipe

Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Cook time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup) – I do reduce my recipe to 3/4 cup of sugar and it tastes great.
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour – I always use half whole wheat flour and half all purpose flour.
  • I always add cinnamon to this recipe even if I am making banana or pumpkin bread. 1 teasppon – 1 tablespoon depending on your preference.

Method

No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a buttered 4×8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

Yield: Makes one loaf.

So that’s my post for this week’s TMST!! It was fun to talk good eats and share a recipe. If you make it let me know how it turns out!!

Next week’s TMST question is:

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?

  4. I love how your start out with all the healthy stuff and then digress. I went to the drooling sweets, even though I have yet to try most of the recipes. I find it better to collect them and say one day I will make them saves calories that way!

  5. Love donuts, and cereal (quick and easy when you’re in a hurry). My favourite thing to eat is a curry: vegetable, chicken, beef; I don’t care as long as it’s spicy.

    1. Wow, Curry?? I odn’t know if I have ever had it. Not sure if I would like the spice or not. I will have to add it to my list of must tries!!!
