My Shelf Candy pick this week is:

The Selection (The Selection Trilogy) Keira Cass

Okay, so I know a lot of you might be thinking – another cover with a girl in a beautiful dress?! But LOOK at it. I mean its stunning. and it is so much more than a girl in a dress. First, the color…. that color is beautiful. It’s icy yet warm, reminicent of the sea and the sky and it is also a hint or royalty in it. I think the royalty vibe (for me) comes from the crown-like graphic with the title. And how about that title…. The Selection. Just what exactly is this girl being “selected” for?? At the time I found this cover there was no book synopsis on amazon. It said it would be added soon. But I did see where it is a dystopian…. intriguing  yes? And given the genre I would bet money that the “selection” isn’t something ordinary. Okay so back to the cover love…. is she posing in front of a mirror? I know the poses are different in the background but when I first looked I thought she was standing in front of mirrors and her image was being reflected. Maybe she is, maybe she isn’t. Is she posing? Who for? Is there water involved in this cover? The minute I saw this book I was instantly drawn in.

Do I have any details??? I have the release date: April 24, 2012. The book is on amazon now and has a few reviews (i think it was an average 4 star rating) and the sales ranking is really good for a book that hasn’t even been released yet!!

I just love this book and I am so curious to know more about it. I definitely will be keeping my eye out for more info.

So what do you think?

Happy Saturday!

  1. I am in the middle of this book and so far I am loving it. Definitely an awesome book with such a unique storyline.

  2. I love this cover. Love it. Whenever I see it, I say to myself, I have to read that book. It really is beautiful. Really eye catching

  3. The Selection is a great choice. I have had my eye on this book forever and I have to admit that it was first because of the cover. You probably know by now that I am a huge fan of big gaudy ball gowns.

  4. Hi, there! I have this book in my TBR pile on Goodreads. This is a GORGEOUS cover, for sure!! BTW, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of seeing beautiful dresses on covers. They ALWAYS pull me in right away!! Although I don’t get much of a chance to wear such dresses, they’re automatic eye candy for me.

It’s not just the color of the dress that makes this cover Shelf Candy-worthy. The tiers of ruffles on the dress also add to the beauty of the cover. And you’re right — the girl IS looking in a mirror; there are multiple reflections behind her. This design element adds to the beauty, as well. The crown graphic that’s part of the title also helps.

This is a GREAT pick!! Thanks for featuring this book!! : )

  5. I love this cover as well and you’re right it does look royal, but I think it’s also because of the girl’s dress and her pose. I also like the other girls (or is it the same girl?) in the background in different poses. I also like the background, it reminds me of an icy surface and a mirror and rain. I have no idea how they did that. Nice pick.

Ooh and Masquerade sounds interesting! I added it to my TBR pile a little while ago. I think it was when I saw the cover reveal of Charade on Mocha Latte Reads :). I love the covers by the way.

  6. I do love this cover. I was actually going to feature this one next week on my shelf candy but I may switch it up a little now 🙂

Hhmm, I never thought that she may be looking in a mirror. I was thinking that it looked like the other girls were in some sort of suspended animation (or something like that) until it’s their turn to pose.
