Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! It’s as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!

 Tell Me Something:

Who are your favorite sidekicks in a book? (you know the main character’s BFF)

My answer:

The sidekicks in a book can be very important. They can add drama to a story, they can add laughter OR they can add a whole lot of annoyance throughout an entire novel. I have read books where the sidekicks have driven me insane and some that have left me smiling. Here are a few of the good ones:

#1 Cassie from A Beautiful Dark.

I really loved Cassie. You can tell that she really cares about her friend, Skye and there doesn’t seem to be any kind of jealousy or rivalry between them. They’re just friends. She is also boy crazy (but it’s not annoying), really into music (she has her own band) and and she liked to look cute! I thought she was fun to have a round and I smiled a lot when she was in the scene. To me that makes her a great sidekick.

#2 John Smith’s BFF in I am Number Four, Sam.

I chose Sam because he was a little odd – obsessed with alien’s, paranoid and sure that the aliens were going to get him. LOL. It was amusing and different to read because he seemed to have his own life outside of just supporting his BFF. His dad left and didn’t come back (a strange alien abduction you ask??? Could be!), he lives with his mom who works a lot and he has tons of theories. He also is a very good friend to John. He really comes through when John needs help and then later he keeps the secrets and fights alongside his friend even when he thinks it might get him killed. So to me, he is an awesome (if not weird, lol) side kick and I liked reading about him. 😉

#3 Oberon in Hounded

Oberon is a different kind of sidekick but still a GREAT one none the less. He is an Irish Wolf Hound! LOL. They do say that dog is man’s best friend and in this book I totally agree. This dog is hilarious. It is so fun because Atticus (the  main character) can talk to his dog and the things they say are so funny. For starters, Oberon wants to have a harem of french poodles at his beck and call. He loves sausages (what dog doesn’t), likes to drink hot tea (with ice in it!) and becomes obsessed with Gangas Khan (hopefully i spelled that right). He has a good heart, is loyal and never runs from a fight (which is good because there are many in this book).

So those are my top three picks for sidekicks!!! I can’t wait to read your answers! Happy Tuesday!

Next week’s TMST question is:

What is it about books that makes you want to blog about them? What is your favorite thing about blogging?

  1. I so need to read some of these books! They sound wonderful as do their sidekicks!

    Great choices Cambria!

  2. I haven’t read those books 🙁 I Am Number Four has been on my TBR list for ages!! One of my favourite sidekicks is Dee from The Forbidden Game trilogy. She’s a kickass female who is a great second in command and keeps the main character Jenny going when no one else can. She’s also witty and sarcastic, with the beauty of an Egyptian Goddess and the physical strength to with it. She actually outshines the protagonist at times.

    1. I haven’t read the Forbidden Game trilogy, I will have to look it up it sounds great!
