Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! It’s as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!

 Tell Me Something:

Who is your favorite heroine in a book? (Okay you can name more than one)

My answer:

There are a ton of strong female characters in the many books that I have read. Hold onto your panties I am about to name the ALL. Okay, I won’t. ha ha ha. But I will list a few that first came to mind when I posted this question.

#1 Katniss from the Hunger Games

Yes, there is a lot of buzz going around right now about this book and upcoming movie but maybe that is because I am right and Katniss is a super strong female heroine. LOL. I recently read this series and really, Katniss is full of strength and courage. This girl is dealt bad thing after another. The books made me exhausted (but not in a bad way) because of everything she went through. And yet somehow in the end she always seemed to make it through. I think one of the things that made her so remarkable is that she really wasn’t supposed to be remarkable. lol. I mean, she is a teenage girl thrust into a situation beyond her control and she wasn’t confident she would come out of it. On the contrary she thought she wouldn’t but she tried anyway. To me, that is strength.

#2 Calla from the Nightshade Series

I think Calla is strong because throughout this series her beliefs and everything she is raised to believe and taught from birth is challenged. She is the Alpha of her pack and that makes her responsible for others and she takes that very seriously, she welcomes it even. I liked her because she followed her heart and her gut ans she didn’t apologize for it.

#3 Tara from the Dirty Blood Series

Tara is a strong character because she starts the series as a regular teenage girl and then Bah- Bam is thrust into a paranormal world that she has ties to she never even realized. She takes this all with strength and endurance all while holding her own in a fight. This girl isn’t afraid to take up for herself (at one point she carries a broken plunger handle in her back pocket as a makeshift weapon). I mean really, ain’t no one mess with her. LOL. But she takes a couple licks too, but that’s okay because she always gets back up again.

#4 Skye from A Beautiful Dark

I just read this book and I really loved it. Skye is a likable teenager that I enjoyed reading about so much. This girl is normal as she can be until paranormal events and the arrival of two hot new guys change everything. She handled things like I would expect any teenage girl too, by wanting to cry sometimes and scream others. But I thought it was real and I really liked her.

So that’s my list for this week! I am sure that once I read all of your answers I will be smacking myself in the head for not naming a few icons that I missed. I can’t wait to see who some of your favorite heroine’s in a book are!!

Before we go the question for next week’s TMST is:

Who is your favorite sidekick in a book? (You know the BFF of the main character)

  1. Great post, Cambria! While she didn’t make my list, I agree Katniss is a great, strong female lead. I just started reading Nightshade (just the first chapter) and already I can agree with you about Calla. As for the rest, I look forward to meeting these great ladies. 🙂

    1. thanks! So glad to hear you are enjoying Nightshade! Its a great series!! Can’t wait to read your list!

  2. Nice answer! ;D Katniss is really strong, but she disappointed me SO much in Mockingjay. She was crying and hiding in closets instead of helping people like she should have. IDK, that book was not so great for me D:
Agree, Calla is awesome. She has an absurd temper, but is also sweet to those she loves ;D

    1. Yes, Calla is sweet to those she loves and I credit that temper to being a werewolf! LOL.

Katniss- yes I agree I was frustrated by her in the third book but I also thought that in her shoes I might do the same thing….. but I really was upset about Peeta and that situation. I am posting my review for Mockingjay very soon so you can read my direct thoughts on the book (it does have spoilers) then. 🙂

  3. As always great choices Cambria!

I see some books on your list that I really need to read!

  4. Well you and I agree on Katniss, the rest are all books I need to read. I really want to read Heather’s books, they are loaded on my kindle, now just need to find the time. Happy Tuesday!

    1. Heather is a great writer, I really love her and Dirty Blood is a good series.
Can’t wait to read your list to see who you picked!

  5. My ultimate favortie heroine is Hermione from Harry Potter. She is just so loyal and brave. No matter the situation she always uses her smarts to save the boys. My next favorite heroine is Clary Fray from The Mortal Instruments. She is also so loyal and brave and total kick butt. Even when she doesn’t have a plan and she says she is scared, Clary will still fight for her loved ones in any face of danger.

    1. I haven’t read Harry Potter (YIKES!) but I can totally understand why you choose her because I have heard GREAT things about her. Someday I will read that series.

I on’y read City of Bones in the Mortal Instruments series but even then I thought Clary was a good heroine.

Great choices Caitlin! Thank you for sharing!

  6. I just got The Hunger Games books, going to start them later this evening. Katniss sounds like a kickass woman.

    1. Well, Emma, get ready for the emotional roller coster. These books are so good but also were very emotional for me. I hope you enjoy them!

  7. Great post 🙂 I so agree with the reasons you gave for Katniss being a really amazing female protagonist! She was thrust into the situation and she fought back amazingly!

  8. Looks like I must read hunger games soon. Actually all these books but ugh! I HATE triangles!!!!!! My guy usually never wins.
