My Shelf Candy pick this week is:

Paris in Love by Eloisa James

Isn’t this cover just beautiful? It is simply but I think that is why it works so well. It almost looks like someone drew this. The muted colors against the white background are really eye catching and they keep the eye moving around the image so you can fully appreciate the entire design. The woman – clearly the focal point really pops off the page. There is so much texture in her jacket that it almost looks as if you couls recah out and feel the tweed material. She gives the impression (to me) as bustling through the city yet the cover is also relaxed. I love the way her scarf kind of trails behind her. I want to read this book based on cover alone.

what do you think?

Synopsis:

In 2009, New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James took a leap that many people dream about: she sold her house, took a sabbatical from her job as a Shakespeare professor, and moved her family to Paris. Paris in Love: A Memoir chronicles her joyful year in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

With no classes to teach, no committee meetings to attend, no lawn to mow or cars to park, Eloisa revels in the ordinary pleasures of life—discovering corner museums that tourists overlook, chronicling Frenchwomen’s sartorial triumphs, walking from one end of Paris to another. She copes with her Italian husband’s notions of quality time; her two hilarious children, ages eleven and fifteen, as they navigate schools—not to mention puberty—in a foreign language; and her mother-in-law Marina’s raised eyebrow in the kitchen (even as Marina overfeeds Milo, the family dog).

Paris in Love invites the reader into the life of a most enchanting family, framed by la ville de l’amour.

P.S. this is a book that releases this week so grab it hot of the presses!!

Happy Saturday!

  1. What I like about this cover is that it captures the quintessential Parisian fairytale – beautiful city and fashionable lady with little dog. That’s how I see myself if I was able to pick up and move to Paris – automatically in fashion. 🙂

    Very beautiful cover!

  2. This looks like a great book to curl up with a cup of tea. I love how the background is black and white sketch..it makes the characters in the front pop. I would need to read the synopsis to know what it’s about though. Great pick.
