Shelf candy saturday is a weekly meme hosted by the awesome Stephanie over at Five Alarm Book Reviews. It’s a chance for all of us to actually do the unthinkable and judge a book by its cover!! We can show our love for the beautiful artwork that make us want to see what’s inside the book. For more information about shelf candy saturday please visit (and follow!) This week I have something really, really cool. Something you won’t see anywhere else until tomorrow…. that’s right I have the honor of revealing a cover! And I am going to do it right now!!!

It’s actually the cover of a book that has already been released but it is being relaunched with a brand new cover and this is the first peak before it kicks off a week long tour tomorrow here on my blog… (more deets on that later) but let’s get to the cover L-O-V-E.

My shelf candy pick this week is: Across the Galaxy by Heather Hildenbrand

I love the color and the “otherworldly feel” that it has. It makes me wonder if this girl on the cover gets caught up in something that isn’t of this Earth or iff she IS what isn’t of this Earth. She definitely looks like she is tough and experienced a lot in her time but what? And what is that light shining on her face? Does it come from within? Is she caught in the beam of an enemy? It really makes me wonder. I also like the font on the title. It really pops out and is easy to read.

As I mentioned this book has been published for a few years now, its Heather Hildenbrand’s very first book. For those who might not know she is the author of the Dirty Blood Series (Dirty Blood and Cold Blood and more to come) and I have read both of those and loved them. I haven’t read this book yet but I hope to. So, for fun I am going to post the original version of this cover so we can understand the full makeover it recieved. Here is the old version of the Across the Galaxy cover:

Personally, I like this one too.  I think I do like the font on the new cover better it is a little easier to read but again this one has the same “otherworldy feel”.

What do you think?

I was able to speak briefly with the cover artist,Char Adlesperger and this is the information she shared with me about herself:

“To put it simply I’m a 17 year old student going to college for a Masters in Multimedia Graphic Design.”

LOL. She is clearly a woman of few words but big talent in design. You can check out more of her designs and services at this website: http://www.wix.com/wicked_art/wicked-cover-designs#!

This is a cover reveal for this relaunching book and the tour kicks off tomorrow right here on my blog! You can drop by here to read the book synopsis and a brief interview with Heather about why the new cover and relaunch. There will also be a giveaway where you can win an Ecopy of this book! So come back tomorrow (sunday) and check it out!!!

A big thanks to Heather for allowing me to have the honor of revealing her cover first!! 😉

Happy Saturday!

  1. This is one bad arse cover. I went to Char’s site and she has designed a lot of great covers. This is my favorite. Great pick.

    1. Yes, this is a great cover and the designer is so young but very talented!

  3. Oooohhhh, what an absolutely GORGEOUS cover!! I’m talking about the new one for the relaunching of this book. The original cover is pretty nice, but the new one is simply…STUNNING! It was instant cover love when I first saw it (here on your blog, of course)!! That burst of light on her face, the cool lettering, the blue-purple background, even the look of shock in the girl’s eyes…everything about this cover just clicks with me!! But. It’s an ebook…. I don’t read ebooks. So now I’m wondering whether the publisher would consider putting out a new paperback, with THIS cover. If so, I’d buy it IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE. No joke!

As I said before, the original cover is nice, but it simply doesn’t grab my attention like the new one does! So if you happen to hear that the pub is willing to put out a new paperback edition with this glorious new cover, please DO let me know!

By the way, thank you so much for leaving such nice comments on three of my posts the other day! I greatly appreciated them!! And you’re very welcome for my listing you as one of my faves — both blog and blogger. You’re very nice, and have a GREAT blog, so of course I chose you!

    Have a WONDERFUL weekend!! : )

    1. I will ask Heather about the paperback version. I would think it will be available as her Dirty Blood series is!

You are most welcome for leaving comments on your blog! I enjoy dropping by – I wish I had more time to do it. 😉

      Have a great weekend.
