My Shelf Candy pick this week are two books that are coming out next week, February 14th, to be exact! So without delay here are the beauties:

When Tamisin Warner’s swim coach sends her home with something sprouting from her back, she feels more mortified than magical. Until the Something turns out to be wings, real wings that can fly! As the magic takes hold of Tamisin’s life, she finds she is not just any fairy, but a princess, the daughter of the fairy queen. E.D. Baker masterfully takes readers on a journey to a land of strong heroines, funny sidelines, and a dash of romance.

Note: This book was previously published April, 2008 titled “Wings” and is being released with a new cover and title!

The sequel to this book is also being released on the same day (Feb. 14th) this is the first time the sequel will be published:

In this delightful sequel to Fairy Wings (originally titled Wings) the fairy princess Tamisin has been kidnapped from her home in the human world by Oberon, king of the fairies, who thinks he’s her father. When Tamisin’s boyfriend Jak finds out, he sets off to rescue her. In this funny and heartwarming romp through a land of fairies, goblins, sphinxes, unicorns, and many more, Tamisin and Jak try to regain their romance even as they find their way back to the human world.

E. D. Baker is a master of the madcap world of magical creatures and she demonstrates once more that a clever girl who shows a dose of kindness, humor, and common sense can overcome almost any fearsome foe, no matter how magical!

So these books are a little bit of a depature from the last couple weeks but aren’t they gorgeous? I love the vibrant colors and the movement in the hair. The wings look fragile and strong at the same time. I think both covers are very magical and I love the fantasy element to them.

These are children’s books recommended for ages 10 and up. Since I have a daughter around that age I can always appreciate something that is this beautiful and would draw a young reader (and her mother!) right in. The synopsis sounds promising as well.
The books are coming from already celebrated author E.D. Baker who wrote Tales of a Frog Princess Series from which the disney blockbuster The Princess and the Frog was based from.

The books are being published through Bloomsbury USA Childrens.

(P.S. — I’ve been trying to follow you with your new Linky Followers widget — terrific idea, since your blog isn’t powered by Blogger — but I’m having some trouble setting up up my account. I’ve already contacted Brent, the guy who runs the Linky Followers site, so hopefully, you’ll soon see my icon in the widget!)
