Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! It’s as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!

 Tell Me Something:

What is the saddest book you have ever read?

My answer:

I normally avoid sad books at all costs. LOL. I read for entertainment, to help me escape from the real world for a bit and usually I don’t want to be sad. However, I have read some sad books – mainly because I didn’t know they would be sad when I first picked them up.

I have top two sad books and I actually read both of them this month. (Its been an emotional month for me, lol!!)

The first book is: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I know, some of you might be like, what? Why? Well, I there are quite a few sad parts in The Hunger Games and if you have read it you know what I mean. But this book was just very emotional for me to read. I really seemed to become involved with Katniss and the other people involved in the story and when tragic things happened I was deeply affected. Aside from the deaths in the book, I found the conditions that everyone had to live in and endure in each district to be sad and just the way everyone seemed to endure life rather than live it was just something I probably won’t forget.

The second book that I found very sad (and it really surprised me because I did NOT expect it to be sad) was:

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

I don’t really want to go into what made it so sad for me because it would give away a lot of the plot and I don’t want to ruin it for other people, but let me just say that I actually cried while I was reading this book. While I enjoyed the story I really didn’t like that. I will say that I think it really hit home for me though because I have experienced something like Clara does in the book.  It was beautifully written though and I think that is one of the reasons it affected me the way it did. (review for this book to come soon on the blog!)

So those are my top two sad books (sorry I couldn’t limit myself to only one!!)

Now it’s your turn to Tell Me Something!!

    1. Thanks Erin! I will check out your post now!! No worries about the emotional month. I will just have to find something light and kind of trashy to read to brightne my spirits. LOL

  1. I generally don’t like reading sad books – they depress me. But the one I still remember to this day as breaking my heart is that bloody “Old Yeller.” I much preferred the sequel, “Savage Sam”.

    1. I actually had NO idea that Old Yeller had a sequel. BUt yes, Old Yeller was just horribly sad.

  2. Great choices Cambria!!

I completely agree on Hallowed, I know I got teary eyed more than once through that book. It is such a fantastic series!

    1. I’m so glad someone agrees about Hallowed! I thought I would be the only one that it got to! Thanks for telling me!

  3. Interesting. I have both those books on my post 🙂
I just passed one of the sad parts in HG last night and dang it, I kmew itmwas coming but it still sucked!

    1. Really?? Awesome! not the saddness but good to know that I am not alone in my choices! 😉

  4. I definitely agree on the Hunger Games. I loved that book, but the whole story and the plot are sad and a bit brutal as well.

    A good pick — I haven’t read the other yet, though. 🙂

    Alexandra~

    1. Thank you Alexandra! Thank you being part of TMST this week! And yes, HG was kind of a brutal book to read. 😉

  5. Great answers, Cambria! Both got an honorable mention in my post 😀

  6. Great answer! I haven’t read Hallowed yet… but I agree with The Hunger Games! It had some really sad moments. And some really heart warming moments!

    1. Thank you! Hallowed was beautifully written but it was sad! I have the review for it being posted later this week on the blog so be on the lookout for that!

  7. Hi Cam, it took me a while but i got my post done.
Your questions are getting too hard. I want a light and fun next. I don’t want to cry no more 🙁

  8. Oh, Cambria. HG can be so emotional. I mean, when Katniss volunteers in the beginning I was chocked up so badly and I already knew this cose I’ve watched the movie trailer before reading this book, witch I get chocked up everytime I watch BTW. Oh and when they do that thing of touching the lips with the three middle fingers i was touched. I even done it too. yep, i get too cough up in the story.
About Hallowed, IKR??? What was that all about? I’m still having a Jeff (is my new way of saying anger burst LoL) about it. And the end, oh my gosh, it was heart breaking.
I have to say that I like sad books just as much as I like the funny ones. I don’t like reading the same books over and over again. I like to feel all the range from crazy anger to blissful laughter. I guess that’s where my craziness comes LoL

  9. Just added my link. This is my first time doing this meme. Since I have read quite a few sad books, I thought to make mine a little list. I didn’t add Old Yeller to mine, but that definitely goes on the list. I also have the Hunger Games. I looooooved that book, but I was balling like a baby reading that book. I can’t wait for the movie 😀 I haven’t read Hallowed, but it is on the list. Awesome post, thank you hon 🙂

  10. Is it too late for me to post my TMST on a Wednesday ?? 😛 I was so busy with Uni I haven’t been blogging for a while ~cries~

Anyways, I have to agree with you that HG really made me cried, it was also one of my saddest book I ever read! Cant wait for the movie!

    1. Hi Natasha! No worries about TMST! If you want to post it today go for it! It was your question after all!! LOL. Have a great day!

  11. I read a ton of sad and depressing books. I love them for what ever reason. It is hard to pick just one. Hmm…thinking… Okay, I will have to go with Ethan Frome. There was nothing happy about that read other than the fact that it was a great novel none the less.
I will have to try out this meme. I love the questions that you come up with.
