Welcome to my weekly meme Tell Me Something Tuesday where I ask you something and you tell me the answer!! Its as simple as that and I thought it would be a great way for all of us bloggers to get to know one another! So this is how it works: I post a question here on my blog and then i give my answer. I invite all the bloggers to take the question and post it on their blog with their answer and we can hop around and see what everyone says! If you are a blogger don’t forget to leave your link at the bottom of this post! If you aren’t a blogger – that’s okay too!! Leave your answer in the comments section!

 Tell Me Something:

What is your favorite genre to read and why?

My favorite genre to read is Young Adult. In fact, its almost the only genre I read right now. But it hasn’t always been that way. I used to read adult (and I still like it) years ago I was a romance junkie, LOL. I read authors like Julie Garwood (she is very talented) and Karen Robbards. I will admit that i really liked the books where the girl fell into some kind of trouble and she met a FBI agent that had to save her. LOL!! I know, it’s funny. But its true and I really enjoyed them. Then I started to get bored with the same plot line over and over and I started looking for other books to read. I never ventured into the YA section becaue I thought I was too old to read those books. Isn’t that laughable?? But I met someone who read YA only and we were talking one day and it came out that I had never read Twilight (GASP!!) Well she was so shocked that she brought me the first book in the Twilight series…. I gave it a try…. read it in one day and I never looked back. Now I stalk the YA isles, I write YA, and I can’t imagine my life without a YA book in it. I like YA better than all that adult romance because I feel like I get more of a story in YA. I also like reading about people who are growing up and not quite adults but (usually) have been through so much that they aren’t really teens anymore. They are trying to find their place in the world and I think that makes for a great read. Throw in a couple hot werewolves and you got yourself a story!! lmao.

So obviously, paranormal YA is something I am interested in. But I also have been getting into dystopian (The Hunger Games) and I also have read some Young adult romace (Perfect Chemistry).

Every genre offers a wide variety of selection so if you haven’t quite found the genre of your heart then I would suggest you keep trying!!!

Now its your turn! Happy Tuesday!

  2. You know I never read YA until 2008 when I read Twilight. Funny that it was my intro, while it was good in retrospect there are so many better books in the YA arena! Promise me you will read a Stephen King!

  3. Great post, Cambria! I’m joining you this week for your meme. Sorry it took me so long. LOL

I love YA too, but a lot of the time, I forget it’s technically a genre! I guess it’s because there are so many YA sub-genres out there as well. 🙂

    Happy Tuesday!
