Hey Peeps!!

Today I am interviewing author and business owner E.J. Dable who’s first novel, Pantheons,  a YA e-book has just been released!

E.J. is quite an ambitious man and has several things going on in his life right now so I invited him to do a brief interview to tell us all a little bit about all the things he has cooking!

Here is a little but about our guest:

Ernst J. Dabel is the President and co-owner of Dabel Brothers Productions, a publishing company specializing in comics and graphic novels. Ernst’s company has adapted novels by major authors such as Dean Koontz, Laurell K. Hamilton, Jim Butcher, George R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Orson Scott Card, Raymond E. Feist, R.A. Salvatore, Patricia Briggs, Robert Silverberg, Tad Williams, and others. Pantheons is his first novel.

His debut novel Pantheons:

OFFICIAL PANTHEONS SYNOPSIS: On the streets, they call fifteen year old orphan Isaiah Marshall the “Indestructible Diamond”. Isaiah is the leader of the “Redrovers”, a group of teenage misfits consisting of his friends Jeremy, Monty, and Pipsqueak, who one day find themselves in way over their heads when they trespass into Kaliber Academy to get even with the arrogant Jason Ollopa. Principal Webb enrolls them into the High School and Isaiah soon learns about the existence of the gods of the Ancient World. Because the gods have refused to fight the last War for fear of the Mysterious Dark, the Powers-that-Be have stripped them of their spiritual bodies and given them mortal, teenage forms.
Isaiah soon discovers he’s not only a god, but that he’s the child of the Greek goddess Metis and the son destined to overthrow his cruel and sadistic father Zeus, the Darkener of the Sky, and become the greatest god in all the Pantheons. Isaiah is then thrown into a world where the democratic Olympians, war-mongering Norse, Gothic Celts, firstborn Egyptians, the enlightened Hindu, the animal-like Aztecs, the martial artist Asians, the intelligent Babylonians, the great spirits of the Native American Indians, and the fierce Finnish will war against one another for the greatest of all prizes: the Dominion

Now that we know a little about the author and the book lets get to the interview!

Questions for EJ Dabel author of Pantheons

Hi! Thank you so much for being here today and for answering some questions. I have been hearing some fantastic things about your new book, Pantheons. Let me congratulate you on your new novel and welcome you here to my blog!

Thank you, and I’m delighted to be here on your blog!

Pantheons is your first published novel. It is a young adult novel that has main theme of mythology. Why did you choose to write for a YA market?

I actually didn’t choose to write for a YA market.  It just happened that way.  You see my brother and agent Les told me one day that he thought it would be really cool if I wrote a book about the ancient gods of all the pantheons as teenagers in a modern day setting.  The idea was intriguing, and since I had always been a big fan of mythology I kept listening to him.  Then he told me “think about teen Zeus fighting teen Odin, now that was actually the straw that broke the camel’s back.  I was sold, and that very night, I found myself doing research for my new YA series (grins).

How long did this book take to write?

Actually, it didn’t take me very long to write the book, since I knew exactly where it was going.  It was the research that took a long time since I had to read up on so many things.  Altogether all of it took me a couple months, lots of sleepless nights (grins).

Now that you know the process of write, edit, re-edit and publish will you do anything different with your next novel?

Probably not, the first time around my method worked out very well for me, so as I’m currently writing book #2, I don’t have any plans to do anything any different.

In addition to writing you are also the President and Co-owner of Dabel Bothers Productions, a publishing company that specializes in graphic novels and comics. Out of your many jobs which one is most difficult and why?

I would have to say writing is the most difficult, because when I start to write unless my wife reminds me about food, liquid, sleep and oxygen, I tend to forget that they exist.  Since I’m such a driven person and I owe it to all my readers to give them a better book #2, I push myself beyond my limits.

You are also working on another young adult series Albino. What can you tell us about that?

I wrote Albino in three weeks.  The story was so good when I was writing it that I couldn’t stop.  So, I locked myself up where I couldn’t be disturbed and wrote with every ounce of passion I could muster.  When I got cramped in one position, I would reposition my stiff body into another.  When I finally finished and stared at the mirror I looked like a mess (grins).

Albino does to woodland creatures what Lord of the Rings did for fantasy back in Tolkien’s time. In other words Albino takes woodland creatures into a story that even adults would care to read ;)”

I thought that instead of me pelting you with even more questions we could end this interview by doing a short This or That interview. I give you two things and you choose which you prefer. 🙂

This or That:
